Barcelona, January 28, 2026 – Openchip and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) hosted the UPC–MIT Hackathon 2026, a three-day event bringing together secondary school students and international mentors.
Participants worked in teams to develop technological prototypes, gaining hands-on experience in problem-solving and innovation. Mentors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) supported the students across three UPC campuses in Barcelona and Terrassa, fostering international collaboration.
The event welcomed around 240 participants and emphasized active, experiential learning, supported by the MIT Edgerton Center and organized with Bcn Tech Projects.
The hackathon concluded with a closing ceremony where teams presented their projects, showcasing creativity and collaboration.
